AIRDOS

SUMMARY

    Evaluation of existing standards of measurement of ambient dose rate; and of sampling, sample preparation and measurement for estimating radioactivity levels in air: AIRDOS.
    The AIRDOS project started in April 2004 and was executed over two years. It was funded by the Radiation Protection Unit in the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission. The main objectives of the AIRDOS project were:

  • to make an inventory of the current national monitoring systems for gamma dose rate measurements and aerosol monitoring;
  • to evaluate this information;
  • to propose international recommendations.
In order to reach these objectives two working group meetings and a workshop were organised. The results of the surveys and of the workshops have been compiled in a report.
