MESOCOM

SUMMARY

Mesoscale flow models used for the determination of the mesoscale flow to be used for air quality assessment and dispersion applications, are used on a predefined ideal case and the results compared. The case definition aims at reducing and at minimizing the differences among models and at determining the model uncertainty on specific flow variables. Predefined cases are presented on MESOCOM web site and canbe accessed by a community of European mesoscale modelling groups. The cases include also detailed instructions on the domain size and resolution that the models should adopt to better compare the results. The model results are thereafter submitted to JRC where the are inter-compared and the results published on the web site. The site is open to the public at all levels. Any modelling group has therefore the possibility to perform the same simulations and compare his results with those of the MESOCOM community.
